Since mid-April, BritNed can again be used for redispatch. The reintroduction of BritNed ensures that, through GOPACS, flexible power can be unlocked for congestion management with more certainty.
The fact that this reintroduction is bearing fruit was evident on Nov 16 and 18. During these 2 days -divided over approximately 200 orders- 2 gigawatt hours of resdispatch volume was called by TenneT through BritNed. An average price of €500 per megawatt hour was paid for this. The volume via BritNed was required due to a transport restriction. This restriction was in place so TenneT could perform maintenance on one of its important circuits; necessary to keep the power grid safe and stable. This situation, and GOPACS’ commitment to it, demonstrates the value of the joint platform. After all, flexible power we arrange together!
Sign up your assets if you have adjustable flexible power. So we can continue to work together to reduce congestion.
